The CA/Browser Forum has passed a ballot that reducing SSL/TLS certificate maximum lifetimes from 39 months (~3 years) to 27 months (~2 years), the ballot shows that consensus, and also reduce to a 825-days maximum certificate validity period for all types of certificates (DV, OV, and EV), it will be effective for all new certificates purchased on or after of 1 Mar 2018. This allows for easier auditing and browser requirement enforcement.
